June Beauty Favorites

Hello, friends! Today's post is going to be my June beauty favorites! These are all the products I have been loving for this month!

Boots Botanics Cleansing Toner: I have been loving this toner as a cleanser in the morning and at night. It's great for just refreshing my face and getting all of the gunk and nastiness out of my pores.

Dove Sensitive Skin Body Wash: My skin has been  really sensitive lately and has been prone to redness when I use scented body wash. This one has been great, because it's formulated for sensitive skin and doesn't have a scent! It just leaves me feeling clean, fresh, and no skin irritation.

NYX Butter Lip Balm in Pannacotta: This product has been great this month. It's lightly pigmented, super moisturizing, and just easy. I love the fresh look that it gives to my lips.

Sally Hansen Wax Strip Kit: This product is absolutely amazing. I don't have to pay $10 to get my eyebrows waxed, anymore! It's so easy to use and the results are great.

Benefit Coralista Blush: You guys know how much I love my Benefit Coralista. It adds a freshness to my face and is great for everyday use. What can I say? I love it!

Alright, guys! This has been my June favorites! Leave your favorites in the comments below! I would love to see them!

European Vacation?!/ Wander-ling

Hello, friends! This is an update post as well as a life post with some very exciting news. A couple posts ago, I wrote that I am going to be spending my July in Europe, and I am here to hash out the details to you today.
I have been so blessed with the opportunity to travel to Europe this summer with my dad and my sister, and I'm so excited to be able to learn and travel. Our first destination will be in Riga, Latvia; then we will head over to Krakau, Poland; after Poland, we will travel to Paris, France; and finally we will end our trip in Italy. We will be spending four days in each Latvia, Poland, and France, and about four weeks in Italy. For those of you that don't know, my dad leads a study abroad program for the university he teaches at in Italy, and my sister and I have been so blessed to be able to go with him over the past couple of summers. We will be taking a group of about 20 grad-students over there to learn about international business and management, as well as Italian culture and economics.
Hopefully, I will be able to document this whole experience with you! I will try to post about my travels and travel tips as often as I can, so check back! I'm not sure when/where I will have internet access, but I'm going to try really hard to get these posts out to you! I am going to create a new tab called "Wander-ling", where I will place all of my travel posts. Just so you know, I will be leaving June 27 and getting back August 3.
Well friends, that's my announcement! Please pray for safe travels for me and my family and I will be praying for you for the rest of the summer! Please know that I'm not trying to brag at all about this trip. I will admit that this is a blessing and I'm really lucky, but I'm just trying to inform you as to what is going on as far as July goes. Please don't be offended! Anyways, I hope you have a great day, you guys!

MY DAY!

Hello, friendliest, friendliest friends! I'm spicing things up in here! Here is an account of every thing I did to day, as this is another submission into my "My Day" series. Let's get started!
Today, I had plans to meet up with one of my best friends, Katelynn, to get involved in some shopping shenanigans. I started off the day with some eggs, coffee, and "Live! With Kelly and Michael". I always get up early(ish) to watch that show. It always puts me in gear to face the day! After breakfast, I got in my daily exercise and went on a bike ride. You guys, the weather today was absolutely gorgeous. I had to take advantage of it!
After breakfast, I got ready for the day. I applied some light makeup, got my bag, and headed out the door to pick up my friend. I'll have you know that I'm not a bad driver. I'm really not. However, when I'm with Katelynn this claim would be deceptive. I don't know what it is, but bad things happen when I'm in the car with her! It's not her, but something snaps and driving becomes a challenge. Backing out of a driveway on a hill when your car isn't fully turned out and you can't break? Yeah! It's terrifying! Or trying to back out of a parking space when the car isn't fully on and it won't move? Terrifying!
Anyways! We got lunch at Chikfila and headed over to the mall. I got some items for my trip abroad and Katelynn got some cute clothing, as well. I bought some hand sanitizer, a tank top, and a maxi skirt. Shopping is the bomb.com. After the mall, we went to A.C. Moore, so she could get some puffy paint and I ended up finding a really awesome journal to document my time overseas. I'm saving my trip details for another post. After A.C.Moore, we went to my favorite store: Target. I had to pick up some necessities that I had run out of and some toiletries for my trip. Target is always fun.
After our shopping festivities, I took her home and drove back to my house. What awaited me was a brand new Kindle that I ordered to replace my other one that broke. Let me tell you, the Kindle HDX is nifty. For the rest of the night, I basically hung out and had dinner with my family. Livin' the good life.

I hope you enjoyed this post about my day. Have an awesome today, tomorrow, and the day after that.

How to be Happy :)

Hello, friends! Beautiful creatures of this planet! Participants in the human race! It's time to get into some deep stuff. Today, I'm going to give you some tips on how to be happy. Of course, I'm the expert on happiness. I'm excited, joyous, and bubbly every day, because it's a big, bright, beautiful world, and there's never any reason to frown! Am I right?! Am I right?! Let's get something straight, friends. I'm not the expert on happiness. I don't know much about the brain signals, hormones, and psychology that goes into happiness, but I do know some things I do that improve my mood and make me happier. Therefore! If you are finding yourself in the dumps or having one of those days where you feel like the world just hates you, here are some tips on how to be happier.

  1. Go outside!: It's so much more fun to be outside enjoying the sunshine than it is to be stuck inside watching Netflix. Hard to believe, I know! Though the world isn't bright and beautiful all the time, going outside and getting some fresh air will give you a clear head and improve your mood.
  2. Wear bright colors!: I love a good LBD as much as the next person, but dark clothing is a downer on the mood. Switch up your wardrobe and get some bright, vibrant colors! They're so much more fun!
  3. Treat yourself: There is a time to save and a time to splurge. If you're on a diet, have a freaking cheat day! Don't deprive yourself of indulging in something you love. What kind of life is that?! Don't be afraid to do something for you. Not for your friends, not for your body, but for you.
  4. DANCE!: I don't care if you're a good dancer or not. I always get cheered up by blasting some pump up jams and dancing like a maniac. Try it! It's fun!
  5. Be Present: I will do a post about this later, but I enjoy life so much more when I am present. I'm not in the iPhone world, Instagram world, texting world. I am off of my phone and enjoying the people around me. That's true happiness.
I hope you enjoyed these tips on how to be happier! Hopefully they will help improve your mood and cheer you up a bit! Have a great day!

Blogs Out of Order?!

Hello, friends! I'm really sorry to tell you this, but lately my blog has been going loco on me. Whenever I post a new blog post, it gets placed not at the top, but somewhere in the middle of the page. For those of you sick of seeing "Summer Fashion" every day, know that I have posted two more blog posts named "Question and Answer Sesh?!" and "Summer Beauty". Just scroll a little farther to find them. I'm really sorry for this inconvenience.

Summer Fashion

Hello, friends! Now that it is summer time, it's time to discuss how we're going to clothe ourselves for this season. I took some pins from my Summer board on Pinterest and I'm going to use them to explain some outfit ideas to you today. Most of the time, I throw on track shorts and a t-shirt, but for the times when I want to look presentable, I'll try a little bit harder. These outfits are examples of that.

Outfit #1: In the summer time, my number one essential is shorts. It's so easy to just wear some denim shorts and a t-shirt, but that's so plain! What I love about this outfit is that it's put together, yet comfortable. You have the staple denim shorts, but a floral crop top for a flirty flair. To add that hint of coziness, we have a gorgeous oversized cardigan that will keep you warm when it's chilly. This outfit would be perfect for walks along the boardwalk, beach, or mall.

Outfit #2: I feel like this outfit reflects my style the most. I really like to go for that effortless, yet sexy look (I know, bold choice of words). The maxi skirt is gorgeous and is perfect for any occasion, but the tank top makes it more casual. I love that it's tied and shows just a hint of skin. This outfit could be worn to parties, walks on the beach, or just days when you're running errands.

Outfit #3: This get-up is quite adorable, as well. Starting with the top, who says that you can't wear a sweater in the summer? It's a cropped sweater, so it has that summer vibe, but it's also cozy. I could do without the scarf, but I like the dimension that it adds. It's always nice to break things up with a pattern. Obviously, you have the basic denim shorts and the converse edges up the girly top. I also really like the fact that they're a nude color, which is even more girly. I like the purse, but I would prefer a brown leather satchel. This outfit would be super cute for a mall trip or a day in town.

Alright, guys! That was some summer fashion inspiration that I hope you enjoyed! If you want to take a look at my Pinterest, my link is on the blog on the left hand side. You should be able to find it. Have a great summer and look forward to more posts coming your way!

A Summer Day!

Hello, friends! How are you doing today? I am doing quite swell, because I get to talk to you about my day! Today was a gorgeous summer day, and I am so excited to tell you all about what happened in my totally exciting day. Let's get to it!
I woke up this morning at 7:45 a.m. Early, I know. The cleaning team comes early in the morning to clean my house, so I had to evacuate downstairs to stay out of their way. However, I wasn't able to get breakfast, as they had occupied the kitchen. Henceforth, I was exiled to find food in another establishment.
I decided to get breakfast at a local coffee shop. There, I drank my coffee, ate my muffin, and read outside. It was quite tranquil, if I do say so myself. It was nice. After breakfast, I made the spontaneous decision to go get myself a library card. I want to get more into reading, so I figured that the most cost effective way to get books was to get them from the library. I ended up getting "Ms. Pettigrew's Home For Peculiar Children", or something like that. I'm currently reading it, and I have come to the conclusion that while good, it's not meant to be read at nighttime. Too scary. I have to read it in the day.
At 1 o'clock, I went swimming with some of my friends. I love swimming and the pool, in general. It's relaxing, yet fun at the same time. I love it, and I loved getting to hang out with them.
After they went home, I took a shower, and got ready for the second half of my day. You see, I am in the process of cleaning out my closet. I got rid of a lot of stuff in it, so I had some things to take to a consignment store and Goodwill. After dropping my clothes off at the consignment store, they told me that it would take 45 minutes to an hour to process my clothing. Bull. It does not take that much time to look through a small trash bag of clothing. They're just telling me that so that I'll spend money at their store. Seeing right through their scheme, I left and decided to go spend my money at a different franchise. That'll show them. I ended up going to Target, where I browsed and picked up some essentials I had run out of, such as body wash and mouth wash. Those are necessary. Somehow, my easily material coerced mind was tricked into buying throw pillows for my bed. They were on sale. I'm taking them back tomorrow.
After Target, I was mentally and physically exhausted. I went back to the consignment store and was able to scrounge fifteen dollars out of the clothes I brought in. The declined clothes were in a bag that I then walked out of the store with. The walk of shame. I intend on bringing them back, though. I'm going to keep bringing those clothes in until they buy them from me. Ha. Take that.
I would also like to mention that I did, in fact do what I intended to do with the goodwill stuff. I put that in the goodwill drop off.
For the rest of the day, I basically chilled. I hung out around the house, watched some SacconeJoly YouTube videos, and ate snack upon snack. It was a pretty busy day of driving and running around, but I must say that I quite enjoyed it. Woo, summer!

How to Efficiently Navigate Around My Blog

Hello, friends! Today, we're getting into the technical stuff. I work very hard to format Love Ling so that it's easy to use, navigate around, and view. There are a lot of things that I add to it to make the whole experience enjoyable, and I just want to make sure that you know your way around the nooks and crannies of my blog. There are some things that you can do on my blog that you might not have known about. If I add something new, I'll be sure to tell you! Anyways, this is a tutorial on how to efficiently use my blog, Love Ling.

For those of you that are new to my blog, welcome! This is a blog all about beauty, fashion, and the nuances of life. I talk about everything, hoping that you can learn from me and I can learn from you. Below is what you should see every time you come to my page. Up at the top is the name of this blog, "Love Ling". Below it is a description of this blog and a welcome to those viewing it.  Now some might find this next part confusing, but underneath my welcome message are some tabs. They're basically categories for each of my posts. Every time I write a new post, I place them under one of these tabs. The first one, labeled "Beauty" is where you'll find all of my posts relating to beauty. That doesn't necessarily mean makeup, by the way. I also add things in there about inner beauty. Beside that tab, there is a tab labeled "Fashion", where I post things about fashion, hauls, and style inspiration. Next, we have "Life", where I have all my posts about every day things and things that I've learned. Beside "Life", we have "Love", which is where I talk about all things from boyfriends to dating to loving who you are. "Monthly Favorites" is beside that tab. In this category goes all of my posts where I talk about what I have been loving for each month. If you miss one, just go to that tab and catch yourself up! Beside that, I have "Recipes", where I post recipes that I've tried and want to share with you. Lastly, there's "Who's Love Ling?". This is where I place the posts that I have that kind of give you a glimpse into my life and who I am.
I know that there are a lot of tabs, but I find that it's really easy to just click on one for easier navigation. It organizes my posts and makes finding what you want a lot more effective.

If you look to the left of the blog you will find a whole lot of stuff. Up at the top left, it says "Subscribe, loves!". Here is where you can sign up to get my posts whenever you want them. If you have a Blogger account, you can also subscribe from your profile.

Below it, we have "Follow by Email". If you don't have a Blogger account, then just type in your email, and you will be notified whenever I post!

Below "Follow by Email", we have "Notable Blogs". I have some friends that blog as well, so I mention them right here. If you click on their blog, you will be sent to their page. Here, we have "Yours Truly", the blog of my best friend, Savannah and "Lizolicious", the blog of my other friend, Elizabeth.

Below that, we have a really handy little tool known as "Search This Blog". If you're looking for something specific, just type in the key word(s) and this will help you find it! Easy!

Underneath the search tool is where you can find all of the posts I've ever posted. These are categorized by month and show you how many posts I've published per month.

Down here, at the bottom of the side bar is my profile. This is where you can find out all about me. Know that for safety and anonymous purposes, I don't like to disclose much information about myself, but you can find out some information here.

If you look to the right of the side bar, you will find my most recent post.

In this picture is what you'll find at the bottom of every blog post. This tells you when I posted as well as ways to share my post. I love it when you guys do this! You can share my post by Gmail, Blogger, Tumblr, Facebook, Pinterest, and Google Plus. Don't be afraid to share and get the word out! You can also post comments on my blog, which would be amazing. Below these sharing gadgets are how I labeled the post. These coordinate with the tabs at the top.

When you scroll to the very bottom of the page, you will find this. I don't know why this got dropped to the bottom, but it's here. This is where you can scroll back to home, subscribe to my posts, and there's also a link to my Pinterest. I do have a board on Pinterest where I post pins from my blog.

Alright, guys! I hope this post was helpful to your use of my blog. Please don't be afraid to explore it and learn from it! I work very hard on this blog and I want to give you the absolute best material I can.

Summer Beauty!

Hello, friends! Now that the weather is hot as blazes and we're out doing things such as swimming and tanning, it's time to adjust our beauty routine. I have some products to show you today that are ideal for summer. Let's get started!

NYX Stick Blush in Magnolia: I love cream blushes in the summer. They last longer, look more natural, and are so easy to apply. I love that this one is in a stick form. All you have to do is smack it on, blend, and you're done.

Sinful Colors Nail Polish in "Hazard": This color is so gorgeous and perfect for summer. I love the coral color and it looks great against a slight tan.

Maybelline BB Cream in Light/Medium: I love this product for the summer. Not only does it provide an SPF of 30, but it also gives a nice light coverage. Though it's slightly greasy, this product is great for when you're on the go and just need to slather something on.

Covergirl 3 in 1 Foundation: I love this foundation for its gorgeous finish and lasting power. Even in the sweltering heat, this will hold up and make your skin look amazing. It also has an SPF of 20.

Italia Eyeliner in "Sky Teal": Summer is the perfect time to experiment with color. Adding a pop of teal on the lower lash line is a great way to play around with color and make your eyes stand out. This liner is great, because it's got awesome pigmentation and blends really easily.

Boots Botanics Cleansing Toner: When it comes to skincare, I want something that will get the job done in a short amount of time. I love using this toner in the morning instead of face wash, because it's so easy to use and works. It gets off all the extra oils and dirt on my face, leaving it clean and fresh.

Alright, guys! Those are my favorite summer products! Make sure that you protect your skin from the sun. Wear sunscreen and take care of your skin. That means no tanning beds or excess sun bathing. Watch out. The sun is not your friend. I hope you enjoyed this post! Love you!

May Beauty Favorites

Hello, friends! You guys, May just flew by! So crazy! I hope you had an amazing May and will have an even better June. Today, I'm going to share with you my favorites for the month of May.

Covergirl 3 in 1 Foundation: I have gone back to my love. This foundation leaves my skin looking baby-butt smooth and silky. It lasts for a long time and really helps with oil control. This product is absolutely amazing for that airbrushed, full coverage look.

Herbal Essences Naked Volume Shampoo and Conditioner: My shorter hair has been loving this shampoo and conditioner set by Herbal Essences. These products are apart of the new "Naked" line that is free of parabens and other heavy ingredients. They leave my hair smelling great, feeling fresh and clean, not to mention volumized.

Organix Argan Oil: This product has been my holy grail product for my hair. I love that it comes in a spray bottle, so it's so much easier to apply. I apply it right after I get out of the shower for added moisture and shine. It smells amazing and makes my hair silky smooth.

Acanya: This product was given to me by my dermatologist to use for any blemishes that might pop up. I have to say, it works miracles. I don't have severe acne, or anything, but I definitely have (I hate this word) pimples that show up every now and then. I apply Acanya every night on areas where I'm breaking out, and within a couple days, the imperfections are gone. Plus, I don't get scars.

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer: On days when I don't feel like applying foundation, this concealer is great. It's definitely not a heavy duty concealer. It gives light coverage, but on simple days, that's all I need. I can apply it quickly, with no hassle and nothing to worry about.

Real Techniques Brushes: I have been loving these brushes this month. They're super soft and the buffing brush and contour brush have been perfect for my foundation needs. I posted a review to these brushes, so if you would like to see that, you can view it here.

Pink Sugar Perfume: This perfume smells amazing. Whenever I wear it, I get compliments on it, because it smells simple like sugar and cotton candy. It's the perfect girly scent and is perfect for any occasion.

My Shortish Hair!: At the beginning of the month, I chopped off quite a lot of my hair. Alas, it is shoulder length now, and I've been loving it. I feel like it suits me so much better, it's so easy to take care of, and I just love it. I love. We love.

Alright guys, those were my favorites for the month of May! Let me know in the comments below what your favorites were, and we can chat! Have an amazing June!

Great New Movies: Summer 2014

Hello, friends! One thing that you guys might not know about me is that I love movies. Film is the brother to my well known of theatre. I love both. Recently, I have seen the movie "Maleficent" and the "The Fault in Our Stars", and I want to do a mini review of both of these movies for you. Without giving away the plot, here are my reviews.

Maleficent

Synopsis: "Maleficent" is the untold story of the character of Maleficent in the classic Disney movie, "Sleeping Beauty". It gives the audience an inside look into the formation of the character we see in "Sleeping Beauty", similar to "Wicked". Through magic, friendships, and heartbreak, "Maleficent" will enchant audiences.

Pretty descriptive, huh? That was a little dip inside the writer in me. I must say that "Maleficent" was spectacular. Angelina Jolie was cast perfectly for the lead, and she did an amazing job portraying this iconic character. I love that this story dives deeper into this character and holds her in a less negative light. It's a must see for the summer. No prior Sleeping Beauty experience required.

The Fault in Our Stars

Synopsis: "The Fault in Our Stars" tells the story of two star-crossed lovers who grow and learn from each other while battling cancer. Based off of John Green's award winning novel, this movie is bound to touch your heart with its quirky anecdotes and heartbreaking story.

A while back, I wrote a blog post reviewing "The Fault in Our Stars" book, which I will link right here if you would like to check it out. If you guys haven't read the book yet, you definitely need to. It's amazing. The book is quirky, adorable, and very intelligently written and the movie reflects that. I love that the movie is very similar to the book. Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort are wonderful. They are such talented actors and have great chemistry on screen. Keep some tissues with you when you see this. You're going to need them.

Alright! I hope you enjoyed this mini movie review! Leave movie suggestions in the comments below and I will try my best to watch and review them!

SUMMER

Hello, friends! Just like the adorable talking snow man in Frozen, I would like to rejoice about the beauties of summer in this blog post. Summer is finally here! Not only is the weather gorgeous and bright, but there is a certain freedom that comes from this season. I am so excited for this summer, as I have a lot planned. Just so you know, throughout the entire month of July, I will be in Europe. I will be traveling to Italy, France, Latvia, and Poland with my family and I am so grateful and excited. I'm going to try really hard to blog nearly every day about the adventures I come across, but internet access isn't something always readily available. However, for the time being, I am here. I will be blogging more, so expect more posts to come! Let me know what some of your summer plans are. I would love to know!
Whether you're staying back and chilling or going on adventures, try to make this summer the best one yet. Don't let the monster of boredom creep up on you. Just live and enjoy every moment of freedom you have this summer. I would also like to remind you to be safe, wear SPF, and have an awesome time. I'll be checking in!

May Non-Beauty Favorites

Hello, friends! As the month of May is coming to a close, it's time to discuss my non-beauty favorites with you. The month went by extremely fast, so I'm having  a hard time remembering what I loved this month. We're just going to see how this is going to go. Enjoy!

Blogilates: I've been working out pretty much everyday this month. I've typically been doing some toning and pilates for my workouts, and I use the Blogilates YouTube channel to help me out. Not only are the videos short, but they're very effective.

Frozen Mango Chunks: I've been buying these at the grocery store lately for a healthy snack. I must say that they're pretty darn delicious and I've consumed many bags of them this month.

"Rude" by Magic!: This song has been my jam all month. It's got that reggae/pop vibe and it always puts me in a chill mood.

"The Carrie Diaries": I've finally finished the Carrie Diaries on Netflix, and I must say that I really loved the show. It was funny, adorable, and so fun to watch. I can't wait until season two comes out!

"Best Days of My Life" by American Authors: This song always puts me in a good mood and I love listening to it first thing in the morning.

"Maleficent": You guys, I just saw this movie and it was absolutely amazing. I don't want to give away any spoilers, but basically, it tells the story of Maleficent and how she came to be the way she was in the story we all know. Angelina Jolie was absolutely flawless. You need to go see it.

Alright, guys! This has been my May favorites! I hope you enjoyed them and my beauty favorites should be out in the next couple of days. It depends how efficient I am. Have an amazing June!

Preparing For Exams!

Hello, friends! I know many of you are gearing up to end the school year. It's the home stretch! This means that exams are coming up. Basically death. I have some tips and tricks that will help you take and ace your exams. Some of these tips are study related and some aren't. I'm not a psychologist or a doctor. These are just things that I find work for me and tend to work for other people. Just try it and see what happens.

  • To prepare for an exam, obviously you want to study. Make sure that you don't cram the night before. Trust me, you won't retain anything. Here are some study methods that you can try:
    • Flashcards
    • Review sheets that you made yourself or that your teacher gave you
    • Try teaching the content to another person or to an invisible classroom
    • Go through your notes and copy information that you know you should look over again. Refer back to this "cheat sheet"
    • Try Quizlet. This is a great website that allows you to make online flashcards, quiz yourself on the terms, and play games.
  • Make sure to get plenty of sleep before exams. Go to bed early. Sleep certainly helps me do well.
  • The day before your exam, make sure that you have all the materials you will need for the next day. You want to be prepared and ready that day.
  • The day of, bum it. Don't bother wearing fancy clothing. You're going to be sitting in the same spot for long periods of time. It's best to be comfortable.
  • Save yourself a couple minutes of sleep by going for a really light makeup look or no makeup at all. You have no one to impress as you're just going to be hunched over a test. Don't even bother.
  • Eat a good, nutritious breakfast. Brain food.
  • Bring something to do in case you finish the test early. I'd suggest a book or something to draw on.
  • Always, always, always check over your answers!
Now get in there and nail that test! You've got this! Just get it over with!
